Summer 2023

A Look Back

After working for the University of Montana for the past 11 years I decided it was time to move on. Looking back, I can really appreciate the time I spent there. I'll always cherish the people I met and the culture of exploration and experimentation. Learning the ropes of agile development led me to a whole new appreciation for how work could be managed to foster collaboration and continuous incremental improvement in the process.

The Path Forward

Not knowing what the future will bring has me full of joy, hope, and anticipation. I'm very excited about what my next work challenge will be. Yet after 11 years of office work and entering my 40s the biggest challenge I face is self-care. For a long time, I let my passion for coding and technology drive most of what I did in my daily life. Especially during the pandemic this led to becoming overly comfortable with a sedentary lifestyle. Fortunately, I live in Montana so I decided to take this opportunity to really engage with what I love about living here. So far, I've summited Saint Marry's Peak, spent a few afternoons playing disc golf, plenty of day hikes and a few days out camping.
